Spain is the world’s biggest producer of olive oil, with a range of varieties including Picual, Picuda, Royal, Cornicabra, Hojiblanca and, the most popular here in Catalonia, Arbequina. Being smooth and sweet without being overpowering, its notes of apple and almond mean Arbequina complements any dish.

In Les Garrigues

Smelling the olive oilIn Les Garrigues we will visit the village of Arbeca, the home of Adría’s olive oil, NouSegons. Adría represents the third generation of his family’s business but has adopted a completely new approach to olive oil production. With a passion for quality and an eye on the future, Adría will guide us through the steps it takes to produce a premium, limited edition olive oil like NouSegons.

In the first week of November we can take part in the harvesting of the olives for NouSegons. This is a unique opportunity to witness, and participate in, the entire process involved in creating a premium olive oil. We will go into the beautiful fields with their centenarian olive trees and manually pick the olives, ensuring each one is in the perfect state to produce NouSegons.

In Barcelona

Oro Liquido, situated in the historic Gothic quarter, was the first premium olive oil shop in Barcelona, offering the very best olive oils from all over Spain. The tastings take place inside the shop and will be led by Ana and Xavier, who will lend their expertise as they guide us through this experience.
